Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS) recently announced the appointment of Tavon Claggett as the department's new Deputy Chief. Before joining HCDFRS, Claggett worked as a volunteer emergency service provider (EMS) in Carroll County and in 1993 obtained his instructor certification. Today, Calvin Ball named Louis Winston as the next head of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS). Winston joined the Department on February 12, 1990 and served under seven fire chiefs and six county executives.
He has been involved in several regional committees and boards, including the EMS Education Council of the Maryland Emergency Medical Services Systems Institute, the Howard County Community College EMS Program Advisory Board, and the Baltimore City Community College EMS Advisory Board.
